Our IB goals

John S Clark Elementary is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

At John S Clark Elementary, our goal is to develop internationally-minded students who help to create a better and more peaceful world. Focusing on 10 Learner Profiles, we will address students’ social and emotional well-being.

As a K-5 school, we will be part of IB's Primary Years Programme (PYP). Students will use research skills, thinking skills, and communication skills as approaches to learning.

One distinctive feature of the Primary Years Programme is the six Transdisciplinary themes. These themes provide our teachers with the opportunity to incorporate local and global issues into the curriculum. Through inquiry, students will be exposed to problem-based learning and experimentation. They will develop independence and responsibility for their own learning.

Who We Are Where We are in Place and Time  How We Express Ourselves
How the World Works How We Organize Ourselves  Sharing the Planet

In essence, IB provides students with a well-rounded education that focuses on their grade-level conceptual understanding and their individual needs while using collaboration and inquiry through a global lens.
